Why the Pelvic Floor Matters?
When people hear “pelvic floor,” they sometimes think it’s a niche topic. In reality, the pelvic floor plays a foundational role in strength, posture, balance, and movement for men and women, especially as we age.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your core that works closely with your abdominals, diaphragm, spine, and hips. Together, these muscles create stability for everyday movement—walking, lifting, standing up from a chair, exercising…even breathing. When the pelvic floor isn’t functioning well, the entire system can feel “off,” leading to compensation, discomfort, or reduced confidence during movement.
Signs Your Pelvic Floor May Need Attention
Pelvic floor issues don’t always show up in obvious ways. Symptoms can include:
Leakage when coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercising
Frequent or urgent trips to the bathroom
Lower back, hip, or pelvic discomfort
A feeling of core weakness or instability
Sensations of heaviness or pressure in the pelvic area
Pain with sexual intercourse
Many assume these changes are simply a normal part of aging—but they are common, not normal, and they are often very treatable.
